LIVE Transfer Talk: Liverpool prepare for Mohamed Salah exit after next season

The summer transfer window is here, and there's plenty of gossip swirling about who's moving where. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest buzz on rumours, comings and goings and, of course, done deals!

TOP STORY: Liverpool prepare for Salah exit

Mohamed Salah is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the 2022-23 season as a free agent, according to the Daily Mirror.

The 30-year-old winger will enter the final year of his contract on Thursday, but despite the club's efforts in recent weeks to secure a new deal with Salah, the latest indicates that the Reds are now preparing themselves for his exit.

As reported in May by ESPN, Salah confirmed that he would definitely stay at Liverpool next season, though that would now see him become available on a pre-contract agreement in January if his representatives cannot change their expectations in any contract talks before then.

The Egypt international contributed to 36 goals in 36 Premier League games last season, and recent speculation has suggested that Jurgen Klopp's side have placed a £60 million price-tag for his transfer, should any clubs look to test the waters during the current window.

16.21 BST: West Ham United have opened discussions with Jesse Lingard, who left Manchester United this summer, according to The Athletic.

Lingard had a successful spell with David Moyes' side in the second half of the 2020-21 season, scoring nine goals in 16 Premier League appearances, as well as registering four assists. But since returning to Old Trafford, Lingard struggled to make a significant impact, and scored just twice in 22 matches.

The 30-year-old had been at United since 2001 but is now looking for a new club after his contract expired.

The Athletic reports that West Ham want to sign the attacking midfielder permanently, but haven't yet made an offer.

15.42 BST: Nice have named Lucien Favre as the club's new head coach to replace Christophe Galtier, it was announced on Monday.

Favre, who spent two-and-a-half seasons with Borussia Dortmund, has returned to the Ligue 1 side for a second spell after leaving in 2018.

The club announced Galtier's departure in a short sentence at the beginning of a statement which read: "Christophe Galtier is no longer in charge of the first team at OGC Nice."

Sources have told ESPN's Julien Laurens that Galtier is set to be named the new Paris Saint-Germain boss, with Mauricio Pochettino on the verge of leaving the club months after winning the league title.

"I am absolutely delighted that Lucien Favre is joining us," Nice owner Jim Ratcliffe told the club's website. "He is an experienced coach, who has had success in the Bundesliga, but also here in Nice.

"Everywhere, he engenders respect and admiration. We like the way he develops his teams and he fits perfectly with the vision we have at INEOS of the style of play we want for OGC Nice."

14.58 BST: Barcelona tried to shoehorn Manchester United defender Harry Maguire into a deal for Frenkie de Jong, according to The Sun.

United are pushing to sign Dutch midfielder De Jong, who Barca are open to selling, with negotiations ongoing over a deal worth around €85 million.

During those talks, per a report which came out over the weekend, Barca asked United if they would be interested in including England centre-back Maguire in the operation.

United quickly ruled out sending the former Leicester City man to Camp Nou, with new coach Erik ten Hag apparently keen to work with him.

Sources have told ESPN that Barca are keen on signing another centre-back, despite the imminent arrival of Chelsea's Andreas Christensen on a free transfer, but Maguire is not thought to be a target.

Coach Xavi Hernandez has asked the club to push for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde if some money becomes available, while Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly has also been linked.

14.07 BST: LAFC co-president and general manager John Thorrington says his club is ready to put Gareth Bale "in a position to succeed" following Saturday's news that the Wales international would be joining Major League Soccer's top team this summer as a free agent.

"We've done our diligence as you would hopefully expect," Thorrington told ESPN's Jon Champion and Taylor Twellman at halftime of LAFC's 2-0 home win over the New York Red Bulls. "We had very open conversations [with Bale] and again, we did our diligence and we know what we are getting into.

"We have had very detailed conversations with Gareth about what he needs to be successful. We believe we are absolutely comfortable with putting Gareth in a position to succeed and it will greatly benefit LAFC."

In LAFC, Bale joins a team that leads MLS' Supporters' Shield race with the best record in the league, has just re-signed star player Carlos Vela to a new deal through the 2023 season and added former Italy and Juventus legend Giorgio Chiellini earlier in June. Both Bale and Chiellini could feature for LAFC as soon as its July 8 rivalry match against the Los Angeles Galaxy (watch live at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPNDP).

Sources told ESPN that Bale will fly out at the end of the week after a short break and sign a deal until the end of this season with the option of another year.

However, with Bale and Chiellini occupying TAM spots, not designated player positions on the club's roster, LAFC still has a DP spot to fill and Thorrington suggested a new arrival may still be in the works.

"We are charting course in that direction," Thorrington said of signing another DP. "I would say if the right opportunity comes, we are ready to make that decision. No decision is better than a bad decision. But we are very excited at the options we have to improve our team as we pursue our goal of ultimately winning a championship this season."

13.26 BST: Atletico Madrid are keen on Celtic right-back Josip Juranovic, according to Sky Sports.

Croatia international Juranovic, 26, joined Celtic on a free transfer from Legia Warsaw last summer and impressed in their Scottish Premiership title win, making 26 league appearances.

The 28-year-old agreed terms to join the Premier League side from the New England Revolution in February but remained with the Revs for the start of the 2022 MLS regular season.

Turner has signed a long-term contract at the Emirates Stadium and will wear the No. 30 jersey.

Turner is set to join up with the Arsenal first-team for preseason training in July and will compete with Aaron Ramsdale and Bernd Leno for the No. 1 spot.

12.31 BST: Angel Di Maria has confirmed Juventus are among the clubs interested in signing him this summer. The Argentina international, also a reported target of Barcelona, is a free agent after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain.

Asked about Juventus, the 34-year-old said: "It's the biggest club in Italy, it's one of the teams that have shown an interest in me. I'm reflecting right now and focusing on the holidays with my family." The former Real Madrid star played seven seasons at PSG, the club he joined from Manchester United.

Di Maria, who is expected to make Argentina's World Cup squad, said he would soon make a decision regarding his future.

11.45 BST: With three days to run on his Barcelona contract, all eyes are on France winger Ousmane Dembele this week with a decision expected on his next move.

Dembele's five-year deal at Camp Nou expires on Thursday. Coach Xavi Hernandez has been pushing for him to stay and an offer to extend remains on the table, but sources says it is short of what the player expects.

Diario Sport, meanwhile, reports that, including Barcelona, there are five clubs in the running for the forward's signature.

Chelsea, at the behest of Thomas Tuchel, Dembele's former coach at Borussia Dortmund, are thought to be the best placed to sign him if he decides to leave Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are the other three teams said to have an outside chance of landing Dembele on a free transfer this summer.

11.03 BST: Manchester United have received an offer from Fulham for Andreas Pereira and also expect Dean Henderson to finalise his loan move to Nottingham Forest, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

Fulham have made a bid of €10m for Pereira, who is on loan at Brazilian side Flamengo. Sources have told ESPN that United have given Fulham manager Marco Silva permission to speak to Pereira and that the 26-year-old has been impressed with the plans that were laid out.

Erik ten Hag has told Pereira he would like to assess him during the preseason tour of Thailand and Australia but the Brazil international is keen for regular first-team football and will have to decide whether he is more likely to get it at Fulham. Fenerbahce have also registered an interest but are yet to make a formal offer.

Meanwhile, United are set to let Henderson join Forest on loan for the season. The 25-year-old goalkeeper struggled for opportunities at Old Trafford last season and is keen for regular football in the Premier League in a bid to force his way back into the England squad ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Sources have told ESPN that United expect more outgoings before the transfer deadline. The club are willing to listen to offers for Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Alex Telles and Anthony Martial although they have not received anything concrete at this stage.

10.21 BST: Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech will step down from his role as technical and performance advisor at the end of June, the Premier League club said on Monday, the latest staff member to leave Stamford Bridge following the takeover led by Todd Boehly.

Cech, who was appointed to the role in 2019 following his retirement, spent 11 years at Chelsea between 2004-15 and won 13 major trophies, including four Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Cech's departure follows that of director Marina Granovskaia, who will leave at the end of the transfer window. Chairman Bruce Buck is moving into a senior advisor role after June 30.

"It has been a huge privilege to perform this role at Chelsea for the past three years. With the club under new ownership, I feel now is the right time for me to step aside," Cech said in a statement.

09.59 BST: Rayo Vallecano have confirmed that Radamel Falcao will remain at the club next season but ruled out the arrival of Edinson Cavani.

Falcao, 36, joined Rayo from Galatasaray as a free agent last summer on a one-year contract. Rayo exercised the option to extend his contract for a further year.

Amid reported interest from Mexican clubs on the Colombian forward, Rayo sporting director David Cobeno has reassured the club fans that Falcao is staying put.

"It's 100% he stays, for sure," Cobeno said. "I know that he is happy at Rayo and he is not going to leave the team at all."

Cobeno, meanwhile, denied reports that Cavani will jon the LaLiga outfit this summer. The Uruguay forward had a two-year spell at Manchester United and is a free agent. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker scored 17 goals in 39 games during his first season at United but only managed two in 20 matches in his second.

"Right now there are no possibilities that Cavani comes here," Cobeno said.

Cavani, 35, wants to continue playing in Europe but his priority is to arrive to the World Cup in good form.

09.26 BST: Real Madrid have signed 19-year-old forward Noel Lopez from Deportivo la Coruna. The Spain U19 international, who scored four goals in 28 league appearances for Deportivo's first team last season, will join up with Real Madrid's Castilla B team.

"Noel Lopez puts an end to his training career at RC Deportivo to continue at Real Madrid CF," Deportivo said in a statement. "Respecting the will of the player in his penultimate year of his amateur contract, both institutions have reached an agreement for the transfer of the footballer, in addition to agreeing on different variables depending on how the professional career of the Galician striker develops in the future."

08.42 BST: Brisbane Roar have signed former Premier League striker Charlie Austin as they attempt to return to the A-League Men's upper echelon.

Austin most recently played in the English Championship but previously scored 34 goals in 111 Premier League appearances for Queens Park Rangers, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.

The Roar missed the finals last season and coach Warren Moon met Austin, who played in the Championship for QPR last season, in London to secure the striker to lead his attack.

08.00 BST: Manchester United have told Cristiano Ronaldo he is not available for transfer this summer despite the Portugal forward's representatives assessing interest from some of Europe's top clubs, sources have told ESPN's Rob Dawson.

Ronaldo has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, but sources close to United insist they "want and expect" the 37-year-old to remain at the club next season.

He has a year left on his contract at Old Trafford with the option of another season. Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions last season but could not prevent United from missing out on qualification for the Champions League after finishing sixth in the Premier League.

Sources have told ESPN that Ronaldo is keen to spend the remaining years of his career playing in the Champions League and has doubts about United's ambitions after failing to make a signing so far this summer.

However, new manager Erik ten Hag, who is set to lead his first day of preseason training at Carrington on Monday, is banking on having Ronaldo in his squad next season.
