The Kirksville Park and Recreation Department kicked off its summer block party series on Sunday.
P.C. Mills Park was the site of the first block party in 2022.
Residents got to enjoy free hot dogs, chips, snow cones, cotton candy, water games, a bubble suds machine, and water balloons.
The Kirksville Police Department and Kirksville Fire Department also made an appearance interacting with the community.
The block parties help the department interact with the community on what upgrades are needed to the parks in Kirksville.
Kirksville Park and Recreation Director Rodney Sadler said that there still taking the public opinions on P.C. Mills Park, but there are a lot of changes in the work.
"We're still looking at a lot of things. The wading pool right behind us. We may be looking at a splash pad in the future," Sadler said. "Other infrastructure repairs such as sidewalks and developing a new basketball court in the future. So lots of things in the works and we're still welcoming opinions."
There will be three more block parties this summer, those dates can be found here.
