WADENA (KDLM) – Randy and Jodi Becker, owners of Becker Transport & Aggregate in Wadena have been named the Wadena County Farm Family of the Year for 2022.

The Farm Family of the Year program is sponsored by the University of Minnesota and honors families across Minnesota who are actively engaged in farming or an agricultural production.

Randy and Jodi were married in 2005 and farmed in both Wright County and Wadena County until October of 2011 when they purchased their farm from Jerry and Debbie Fischer, which was in the Fischer family for 98 years. Becker Transport was established soon after, where they haul agricultural commodities as well as landscaping products, including Mulch, Decorative Rock, Black Dirt, as well as Class 5 Gravel, crushed concrete and crushed asphalt.

The Becker’s current farm operation consists of corn, soybeans, and hay rotation along with raising a few steers.

“At first I thought, there’s so many other great family farms within the county, I thought there’s no way we’re going to get this award…when we were selected it kind a blew me away,” said Randy Becker.

Randy and Jodi have two children, Lauren and Luke. Both kids help on the farm with baling hay, feeding cows and horses, keeping up with the daily chores and washing trucks.
