WE'LL HAVE THE LATEST INFORMATION ON THE HOME SCREEN. ROB: A TWO-ALARM FIRE AT AN OMAHA APARTMENT BUILDING THIS AFTERNOON. THE SCENE, NEAR 156TH AND Q JUST AFTER 2:00. FIREFIGHTERS SAY A FIRE ON THE THIRD FLOOR HAD GONE UP INTO THE ATTIC OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING. CREWS IMMEDIATELY CALLED FOR A SECOND ALARM BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY SMOKE. MORE THAN 40 FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE CALL. ONLY TWO OF THE APARTMENTS WERE AFFECTED BY THE ACTUAL FIRE, BUT THE BATTALION CHIEF SAYS MANY OTHERS WILL HAVE WATER DAMAGE. NOBODY WAS HUR

The Omaha Fire Department said the flames were caused by 'improperly discarded smoking materials.'

The Omaha Fire Department said 'improperly disposed smoking materials' caused the flames at the apartment complex near 156th & Q Streets. Crews on the scene said the fire on the third floor spread to the attic of the building. Firefighters called for a second alarm because of the heavy smoke. More than 40 firefighters responded to the call. The fire department said only two of the apartments were affected by the actual fire, but many others will have water damage. No one was hurt.
