It's been months, even years in the making but starting Sunday, Belles' Garden is officially open in Council Bluffs'.Located near Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge at 4250 River's Edge Parkway. "This is a piece that we've been working on for a long time [...] a lot of permits process, but it's been a labor of love when you love what you do," Heather Tomasek, architecture manager of the park said. It's a 2,000-square foot area near the edge of the river with view of Omaha's skyline. Mayor Matt Walsh said, "It's part of the total Riverfront Development and play should be whimsical in this is a whimsical feature that appeals to younger children and adults."That river edge plan now in its fourth phase, is using things like Belles' Garden to improve Iowa's view of the Missouri River. And sneak in some education while the kids have some fun. "It's all based off of the ecology of the Missouri River," Tomasek said.So you'll see different types of fish throughout the play area, but the main attraction is the pelican measuring in at 15 feet tall. Encouraging the community to get out the house and play. "A great gift to the citizens of Council Bluffs,'" said Mayor Walsh.
