Pike Road’s family-friendly favorite SummerFest is set for Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Park and Cottonwood Golf Club.

“SummerFest is an event that truly exemplifies the Pike Road spirit,” Mayor Gordon Stone said. “It is a family-friendly opportunity for our community to gather and celebrate the birth of this nation and the freedoms we enjoy each day. We are proud to host a fireworks show each year, to be able to share our welcoming, patriotic community spirit, and to honor those who have helped make our town, state, and nation a special place to live.”

Parking will be available at 6 p.m. at Rolling Hills Park, located at 6001 Rolling Hills Boulevard, and Cottonwood Golf Club, located at 7160 Byron Nelson Boulevard. Please enter by Rolling Hills Boulevard, from which guests will be directed to the two locations, Pike Road communications specialist Turner Waddell said.

Food trucks, inflatables and yard games for children, abundant greenspace for lawn chairs and picnic blankets, DJs, and fireworks will all be a part of the fun.

Food trucks, inflatables and yard games for children, abundant greenspace for lawn chairs and picnic blankets, DJs, and fireworks will all be a part of the fun at Pike Road's SummerFest. Pike Road’s family-friendly favorite is set for June 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Park and Cottonwood Golf Club.

“Fireworks will light up the sky just after dark,” Waddell said. “Park, play and picnic at Rolling Hills Park and Cottonwood Golf Club. We hope you will join us to celebrate our nation, our freedom, and our community spirit on June 30.”

Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcomed, but no alcoholic beverages and no tents are permitted at SummerFest.

SummerFest has moved to Rolling Hills after several years at The Waters.

“We have been very pleased with the opportunity to host SummerFest in a variety of locations across the Town of Pike Road. This year’s celebration, like the 2021 SummerFest, will be held at Rolling Hills Park & Cottonwood Golf Club off Trotman Road,” Waddell said. “By visiting multiple locations across town for SummerFest, we are able to provide the opportunity for a convenient location to the entire community. We want to thank Cottonwood Golf Club for their support and collaboration, allowing us to utilize parts of the Cottonwood facility for SummerFest and the accompanying fireworks. We also want to thank The Waters team, who joyfully welcomed SummerFest to The Waters for many years in the past.”

Rolling Hills Park and Cottonwood Golf Club both will include kids’ activities, food trucks, music by local DJs, and plenty of greenspace for picnics and play.

Activities for children will include giant yard games, inflatables, temporary tattoo stations, and more. Each area will have multiple food trucks available, including both dinner and dessert options. Fireworks will be able to be enjoyed from both locations.

“We are excited to have several local food trucks onsite for SummerFest to provide dinner and dessert to visitors. Moore’s Tasty BBQ, Fire Meats Wood, NYC Gyro, Southern Smokeshack, Kona Ice, and Kool Treats will be onsite at SummerFest,” Waddell said. Picnics also are welcomed.

Parking will be available at both Rolling Hills Park and Cottonwood Golf Club, and there will be plenty of room for everyone, Waddell said.

SummerFest is presented each year by the Town of Pike Road as a community celebration of the Fourth of July holiday. “We are so thankful for the variety of volunteers and partners who help make this annual celebration possible. This year, we want to share a special ‘thank you’ with the Pike Road High School FFA, Pike Road Theatre Company, Kiwanis Club of Pike Road, and the Rolling Hills HOA, who have all volunteered to assist with SummerFest,” Waddell said.

SummerFest is a Town of Pike Road tradition dating back to the earliest years of incorporation. SummerFest provides an opportunity for community fellowship in celebration of America and the freedom we enjoy.

“Patriotic spirit runs deep in the Town of Pike Road, and it is always special to be able to celebrate the Fourth of July together.  After dark, a fireworks spectacular will light up the sky over Cottonwood Golf Club. We are so appreciative of the Cottonwood team for helping make this SummerFest staple possible. The fireworks spectacular will sparkle and pop for over 15 minutes as we wrap up this special evening of community fun,” Waddell said.
