And some relief for Sacramento families trying to afford to fill up their tank. Gas gift cards were given away to more than 400 cars today. This is really appreciated gas as high as heck and baby's gotta get to summer school doctor's appointments and we needed, this was at the Salmon Bonnie Panel Community Center. Today, those gift cards ranged from 25 to $50. This event was organized by Barry Axis, the founder of the Sacramento, nonprofit voice of the Youth. The money was donated by his organization, Councilwoman Angelique Ashby and the community families had to register in advance and it filled up fast. You can see that line. Nearly $8500 in free gas was given out. Pretty amazing.

A Sacramento nonprofit organization gave out hundreds of free gas cards to community members on Sunday to help with rising gas prices across California.More than 400 gas gift cards totaling $8,500 were given out, according to Berry Accius, founder of Voice of the Youth. "We really appreciate this gift card, gas is high as heck, and babies got to get to summer school, doctors appointments, we need it," one woman who got a $50 gas card said. Lines of cars lined the Sam & Bonnie Pannell Meadowview Community Center parking lot where the giveaway was held. Community members who wanted a card had to register ahead of time and the Voice of the Youth registration closed days ahead of the giveaway.The nonprofit organization helps mentor youth and serves the Sacramento community in a variety of ways. The cards given out ranged from $25-50. All proceeds for the gift cards were raised by Voice of the Youth, Councilwoman Angelique Ashby and donations from the community.
