GENERAL, LYNN FITCH, SIGNS THE FINAL PAPERWORK. THE MISSISSIPPI COMIC CONVENTION BRINGING IN THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO THE CAPITAL CITY. WHAT AN EVENT. THE TRADEMARK PACKED WITH FANS OF COMICS, ANIME AND EVEN PRO WRESTLING. PEOPLE COULD BOTH BUY AND SELL NOVELTY ITEMS AND COSPLAY AS THEIR FAVORITE CHARACTERS. ORGANIZERS SAY THE CONVENTION HAS REALLY BEEN A POSITIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT ON THE CITY. SPENDING MONEY HERE, THEY’RE SPENDING MONEY. WE WENT OUT TO EAT LAST NIGHT. WE SEE PEOPLE IN THEIR COSTUME, STILL OUT OF TOWN, OF THE RESTAURANTS AND STUFF. SO THEY’RE SPENDING MONEY AT HOTELS TO STAY HERE. WE MET PEOPLE FROM MINNESOTA. WE MET PEOPLE FROM GEORGIA, NORTH CAROLINA, COMING FROM ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES THAT HAVE DIDN’T LIKE THIS. YESTERDAY WAS THE LAST DAY OF THIS TWO DAY EVENT. LAST YEAR, THEY HAD A RECORD BREAKING ATTENDANCE WITH MORE THAN 15,000 VISITORS. TH

Thousands of people flocked to the capital city Saturday and Sunday for the 2022 Mississippi Comic Con. Fans of comics, anime and professional wrestling were at the Mississippi Trade Mart to both buy and sell novelty items and cosplay as their favorite characters. Organizers say the annual convention brings an economic boost to Jackson."People came to spend money and they're not just spending money here ... we went out to eat last night and we see people in their costume still out at restaurants and stuff." said Joey Mills, the emcee for Mississippi Comic Con. Sunday was the last day of the two-day event. Last year had a record-breaking attendance of more than 15,000 visitors. Organizers are expecting to break that record this year.
