Changes coming to PRT bus routes
A heads-up if you depend on Pittsburgh Regional Transit. Starting Sunday, changes have come to bus routes.
Many riders have told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 they have been waiting for buses that either are late or don't show up. Now the PRT says it's making changes that they say will improve reliability and reduce wait times in the long run.
PRT says it will modify 61 schedules and reduce service by about 4%. Changes include the frequency of trips, the timing between trips, the elimination of certain stops and the change of some routes to avoid construction.
"I've been late every weekend in a row,” PRT rider Ramonia McCall. “If they're not having an event out here downtown or then they are having detours or the buses are late or they just don't show up at all. So, people are frustrated because we have jobs to go to. We can't continue being late to work."
Pittsburgh Regional Transit says the cuts are based on ridership and if operators are available. They plan to adjust schedules four times a year.
