It was a Gatorade bath 22 years in the making for Ole Miss baseball coach Mike Bianco.

Bianco, 55, wore sunglasses to hide tears of joy when he was doused with blue Gatorade during a postgame interview with ESPN on Sunday, after his Rebels beat Oklahoma 4-2 to win the 2022 College World Series.

After being splashed, Bianco told ESPN sideline Kris Budden the sunglasses were helping him hide the tears after reaching the pinnacle of college baseball.

Bianco's teams had become known for being among the best in the nation, only to fizzle in the postseason. This season was the opposite, as the Rebels surged to No. 1 in the country before faltering and becoming the last at-large team selected to the NCAA Tournament.
