GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- On Saturday, people in Traverse City joined others across the country to protest the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Hundreds of people gathered in the Open Space Park, chanting, "my body, my choice."
People held signs in the air expressing their feelings about the ruling.
As the protest ended, action began down the street.
Since the Supreme Court's draft opinion was first leaked, the non-profit Reproductive Freedom for All has set up in Bryant Park every Saturday to gain signatures for a petition to protect women's reproductive rights in Michigan.
On Saturday, volunteers said they saw the most amount of people coming to sign the petition.
"Everybody should be aware of what we can do," Reproductive Freedom for All Volunteer and OB/GYN Dr. Michael Hertz said. "Besides being behind the petition campaign, they have to be ready to get out to vote in November to make sure that the constitutional amendment passes."
Downstate organizers said they are on track to exceed the minimum 400,000 signatures to get the initiative on the ballot.
