UPDATE 5:34 p.m.: Officials released new information about the deadly shooting that happened during a large party in Pittsylvania County early Sunday morning.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, authorities were notified about a shooting at 1220 Kerns Church Road that left eight people injured, including two who were in critical condition, according to a statement released by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Then, during a press conference Sunday evening, officials told WFXR News that one person — identified as 20-year-old Jerome Jaheim White — died in connection with the shooting. His body has been transferred to the Roanoke medical examiner.

Authorities also say that two other people are still in the hospital following the shooting.

No arrests have been made, but officials believe there could have been multiple people connected with this shooting, which is now being investigated as a homicide.

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Eight people were injured from a shooting at a large party/gathering overnight, according to the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say they received a call at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 26 about a shooting at 1220 Kerns Church Road that left two people in critical condition. According to the sheriff’s office, six other people have non-life-threatening injuries.

WFXR News learned there were more than 100 people who attended the gathering when the shooting happened.

Law enforcement from the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the Danville Police Department are investigating the scene and interviewing witnesses.
