Christi Paul Exiting Weekend Anchor Desk at CNN’s New Day
CNN New Day weekend anchor Christi Paul announced on air Sunday that she’s leaving her role and the news network after almost 20 years.
“I am part of the Great Resignation,” said Paul as she revealed the day’s show would be her last. The now-former anchor said the decision was made in January, claiming that her early morning weekend schedule interfered with her role as a wife and mother.
She and her family are moving back to her home state of Ohio where she will be joining another news station, though she remained mum on the details of her new gig. “At some point, my husband and I looked at each other and said, ‘We need to get back home,’” she told her co-host, Boris Sanchez.
“The work we do is important… but at the end of the day, somebody is going to sit in this seat and the show will go on, as it should,” she continued. “But nobody else is going to be my kids’ mom. And nobody else is going to be my husband’s wife or my parents’ children, and I need to be fully, fully present there.”

“Friends, I’m overwhelmed by your goodness!” she tweeted after the show. “Thank you to @amandacarpenter, @brianstelter, @MarkHertling @CedricLeighton and all of you who let me invade your morning space the last nine years, and for the very generous words you’re sending! I genuinely appreciate each one of you!”

I won’t miss her at all. She’s just another CNNbot. Nobody on CNN has a personality. All robots. And that has always been the case since day one. Maybe it’s because it’s Atlanta based and too Southern. I go all the way back to Don Farmer, Dave Walker, Lou Waters and Kirsten Lindquist. One robot after another.

Ms. Paul is one of the best. I always expected to see her in prime time hours. **Isn’t it weird how some people say they watch all the newscasters on a station and then comment about how much he/she hates them all? Like, I could not watch FOX longer than 5 minutes let alone comment about them. Gag Puke**
An interesting and obviously passionate person but I was never a fan of hers as an anchor. Too often she would be stumbling or “searching for words”. Nontheless I wish her all the best.

Sorry to see Christi,part of the “Great resignation”. We haveseen to many great one’s leave CNN, she will me missed. I have been medically disabled since 2014, since 2020, have fought Ccovid and last November, battled Throat Cancer. Since I don’t sleep well, Boris and Christi, have been part on my week-end mornings, YES the show will go on, Yes, someone, will fill the chair, but…NO one can replace Christi ..Good Luck, and enjoy your family and your next journey…God’s speed…
