The ordeal started when cops tried to pull over a vehicle with mismatching plates around Ralph Avenue and Chauncey Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 7:10 p.m. As officers approached the car, the driver sped off, crossing overing a double yellow traffic line into oncoming traffic, hitting two vehicles stopped at a red light, police said.

The driver then struck a 28-year-old bicyclist head on before sideswiping a parked, unoccupied car. After striking the biker and the parked car, the driver continued speeding, hitting two pedestrians in the crosswalk, according to authorities.

Still speeding, the car then struck the left front fender of a vehicle before hitting a third pedestrian and then crashing into a building to finally come to a stop, officials said. The occupants of the vehicle then fled the scene.

One of the pedestrians, 67-year-old Lynn Christopher, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS workers.

The other victims were transported to local hospitals. The bicyclist and a 43-year-old pedestrian are in stable condition while an 8-year-old boy remains in critical condition at Maimonides Hospital. Another 24-year-old woman, who was driving one of the cars hit, was also transported to the hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation remains ongoing.
