NFL Analyst Assigns Meaty Prediction to 2022 Vikings

An analyst from FantasyPros and Rotoballer has bold plans for the 2022 Minnesota Vikings, a team forecasted by Vegas oddsmakers for 8.5 wins in 2022.

His name is Adam Koffler, and he tweeted on Sunday, “The Minnesota Vikings are my dark horse team out of the NFC to make it to the Super Bowl this season.”

Here’s the tweet:

Choosing the Vikings is truly dark horse material as Minnesota has around +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl in 2022. That’s the same territory for Lombardi odds as the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots.

Others, like ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, have selected the Vikings as a “surprise” team this offseason, but virtually no one has nominated Minnesota for serious Super Bowl contendership — until now with the Koffler tweet.

If the Vikings make Koffler’s vision come true, they’ll do it with a first-year head coach and general manager. In January, Minnesota fired Mike Zimmer and Rick Spielman after a combined win-loss record of 15-18 (.454) in 2020 and 2021. Those seasons were conducted with “all-in” stakes, so a mediocre record proved the product had grown stale.

As general manager, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah from the Cleveland Browns took over the front office and hired Kevin O’Connell from the Super Bowl-winning Los Angeles Rams. The two men kept the existing depth chart largely in place, adding free agents like Za’Darius Smith, Jordan Hicks, and Harrison Phillips for roster enhancements. Minnesota also onboarded 10 new rookies after a flurry of trades during the NFL draft.

Should the Vikings get to the Super Bowl — or even win the thing — they’ll navigate the NFL’s 13th-easiest schedule per 2021 wins and losses. Aside from a trip to London, the Vikings also have a close-knit schedule from a travel perspective. The farthest westerly on a map the Vikings play football this season is at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The Vikings haven’t reached the Super Bowl since 1976 and have never hoisted a Lombardi trophy. The franchise has lost six consecutive NFC Championship games and four straight Super Bowls.
