Two people are facing charges for their alleged connection to the shooting of two people overnight, near a restaurant in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County.The victims are stable after being rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds, Rostraver Township police Chief John Christner said. "It's just a shame this has to happen here,” Diane Zampatti said. “Everybody knows everybody in this community, and it's not known for this type of activity.”The gunfire broke out near Sweeney's Steakhouse around 2:13 a.m. on Sunday. Police said one of the suspects fired several shots into a crowd of people."It was the closing time, and I know there were a lot of people in attendance, but to give an actual number, I couldn't say,” Chief Christner said.Police said one of the victims was able to stop an emergency responder in the street to seek help.According to court documents, a witness pointed out a silver Volkswagen parked nearby to police, but the car took off.After a high-speed chase, the driver, later identified by police as Dimond Jackson crashed the car. Jackson is facing several charges including fleeing, driving under the influence, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.Darius Rommel Hunter was in the car with Jackson, according to police. He is also facing several charges including four counts of aggravated assault, firearm possession, reckless endangerment, simple assault, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property.According to the criminal complaint, he admitted to police he fired five to six shots before throwing the gun out the window not far from the scene.Chief Christner said a third person was in the car but was not involved. “I would say it needs to be shut down. There's a lot of children in this community, and it's becoming nothing but, it sounds like an unsafe place,” Zampatti said.When asked if police have been called to this steakhouse in the past, Chief Christner said this. “Yes, we have,” Chief Christner said. “I could tell you that if it does meet the criteria that the proper steps will be taken in terms of what needs to be done.”Hunter is being held on a $500,000 bond, while Jackson is being held on a $50,000 bond. Both are in the Westmoreland County Jail tonight.Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 has reached out to Sweeney’s Steakhouse owernership but has not yet made contact.The motive for the shooting is still being investigated.Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office and state police are assisting the investigation.
