Louisville Metro Police Department said a call came in around 6:30 p.m. reporting a shooting in a laundromat parking lot in a strip mall located at 26th and West Broadway, where the Parkland, California, and Russell neighborhoods converge.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers found a man who had been shot at least once.
He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Community members and loved ones of the victim gathered as police processed the scene for evidence.
"It's very stressful. It's very traumatic for the community members when they see that," Major Mindy Vance of LMPD said. "What you see on scene are people that are wanting to know what's happening, wanting to know what's going on and of course, that's why we're here to talk about it and of course ask for their help in regards to this if they can give us any information."
