DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — The Danville Fire Department responded to a building on fire with a person potentially inside on Saturday night.

On Saturday, June 25, units were dispatched at 9:36 p.m. to 1468 North Main Street where fire and smoke were visible from outside of a burning building, according to the department.

Initial reports stated there was a potential person stuck inside of the building, officials say.

The department responded with four engines, one ladder truck, one support unit, and one command unit. Firefighters conducted a search, but verified that no one was inside the building.  

According to fire officials, the building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported by first responders.

The Danville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Danville Fire Marshal’s office, the Danville Life Saving Crew, the Danville Police Department, Danville Electric, and Danville Utilities.  

The cause of the fire remains an ongoing investigation.
