Trump endorses Darren Bailey for governor

Former President Donald Trump endorsed Darren Bailey of Clay County in his run for the Republican nomination for Governor during a MEGA rally near Quincy Saturday night.   Bailey has been courting Trump’s endorsement, but until now Trump has stopped short of giving it to him.

Trump also called Governor JB Pritzker a terrible, terrible governor, noting he has done such a bad job with the lockdowns and everything else.  Pritzker had been highly critical of Trump during his Presidency.

Trump came to the Adams County Fairgrounds in Mendon, Illinois to push for the re-election of Congresswoman Mary Miller.

But Miller is raising eyebrows with a comment that drew cheers at the rally when she called the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade a “victory for white life.”

Miller spokesman Isaiah Wartman tells The Associated Press that the congresswoman misspoke and had intended to say the decision was a victory for the “right to life.”

Miller is running in the state’s newly redrawn 15th Congressional District with Trump’s support against another incumbent Republican Congressman Rodney Davis.

The primary election is this coming Tuesday.
