(WTNH) – Thanks to the popularity of Showtime’s new series “The First Lady,” both Betty Ford and her husband, President Gerald Ford, have been thrust back into the spotlight.
Our flashback this week focuses on the time almost 50 years ago when President Ford made national headlines for what was supposed to be an uneventful trip to Hartford. His presidential limousine was involved in a crash when police failed to block an intersection.
