As the nation's eyes turn toward the Supreme Court's ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Pensacola reacts and remembers when it was once an anti-abortion battleground involving the fatal shooting of two abortion doctors and bombings of three abortion clinics.

Calling all creatives: a new coffee shop created by makers, for makers, is coming to the heart of downtown Pensacola this fall.

Maker's Coffee Co. owner Caleb Pierce said the goal of Maker's, located at 422 S. Palafox St., is to provide a space for customers to pursue their passions and staff to be developed as leaders for wherever they end up next.

Pierce said that for his wife and co-owner, Haley, and himself, both photographers and videographers, their line of work, combined with a love for missionary service, has taken them to cities all over the world. With each new stop, one routine remains consistent.

A building in Milton which once housed auto parts will now be home to, well, a little bit of everything ranging from outdoor archery lanes, to a shooting range, to Krav Maga self-defense classes.

When all is said, the forthcoming Milton business Stand Your Ground Training and Defense, 6632 Elva St., is slated to offer a firing range, outdoor archery lanes, an outdoor paintball area, axe-throwing lanes, a rage room, classes in subjects like self-defense and firearm safety, as well as the firearm storefront area that welcomes guests as they enter the building.

Myers, who previously lived the Pace area, was living in Tampa when he started working part-time at a gun range. He said he has had the idea of opening his own store since the late 2000s. He moved back to the Panhandle in 2016, and in February of this year he finally acquired the building that would eventually become home to his commercial creation.
