AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police said a vehicle drove off after hitting and killing a pedestrian late Saturday night.

The crash happened around 11:44 p.m. on June 25 in the 8100 block of S. Interstate 35 service road northbound, according to APD. That’s just north of Slaughter Lane.

The pedestrian died at the scene, APD said. They haven’t been identified yet.

Austin-Travis County EMS also responded to the crash.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle. The investigation is still open.

This is the city’s 55th deadly crash of the year, resulting in a cumulative 56 deaths so far.
