Arsenal have advantage in Raphinha chase

The good thing about this summer is that not only Arsenal are being linked to a whole host of names, it is being reliably reported by the big hitters that they are genuinely interested in a whole host of names.

And those names are proven footballers in one of the best leagues in the world.

It has been recently reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein that the Gunners are set to intensify their efforts to sign Raphinha from fellow Premier League outfit Leeds United.

The news broke not long after it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the North London outfit have reached a verbal agreement with Man City for the signature of Gabriel Jesus.

The 25-year-old can be re-united to his countryman at North London if positive talks between Arsenal and Leeds continue.

And there is certainly an advantage the Gunners have in the dogfight chase for the Leeds star.

First of all, no club bids for a player if they have been told by the player and his representatives that they will not be open to a move to the club.

Raphinha and his agent have certainly whispered something in the ears of the Arsenal hierarchy that the club’s faithful will be delighted about.

Secondly, The Athletic also reported that the other serious suitors for the 25-year-old are now behind Arsenal for the player’s signature.

Barcelona, the player’s top priority, don’t have the cash to splash on Raphinha. Whereas Chelsea and Spu*s are focusing on Raheem Sterling and Richarlison respectively.

It has placed Arsenal on a pole position for the signature of the Brazilian.

Leeds are said to be sympathetic to Raphinha’s ambition to play in European competition and won’t block a move if their valuation is met.

Since signing for the West Yorkshire side in 2020, the former Sporting Lisbon man has scored 17 and assisted 11 times in 66 appearances.

The fact that he managed 14 goal contributions last season in a struggling Leeds side, just shows how special he is.

The Brazilian is one of the hottest properties in Europe in the current transfer window, with many clubs believed to be interested in landing him.

Credit must be given to Edu and the technical staff at London Colney for positioning themselves at the top of the queue.

With Jesus set to arrive and Arsenal already having the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos, I think it’s time for the Arsenal fans to join Samba classes.

Favella football is coming to the Emirates Stadium!!!
