WE START WITH CONTINUED RESPONSE TO THE SUPREME COURT OVERTURNING ROE V WADE TODAY PEOPLE TOOK TO DOWNTOWN GREENVILLE FOR THE BANDS OFF OUR BODIES RALLY SOME OF THE DEMONSTRATORS WERE THERE TO PROTEST THE SUPREME COURT’S DECISION WHILE THERE WERE SOME COUNTER PROTESTERS WHO AGREED WITH OVERTURNING ROE V WADE. IF YOU DON’T OWN YOUR BODY YOU DON’T OWN ANYTHING. AND I THINK PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE BODILY AUTONOMY. I’M ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT. MY DAUGHTER ANYBODY ON THE PRO LIFE SIDE JUST LIKE ME. I’M SURE WAS EXTREMELY EXCITED. YOU KNOW, IT’S BEEN WAY TOO LONG. WE ALL KNOW THE STATISTICS. I MEAN, IT’S MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF BABIES EVERY YEAR THAT ARE ABORTED THEY COULD HAVE BECAME HUMANS JUST LIKE YOU AND I AND WHILE THE PROTESTS STARTED OUT PEACEFUL LATER IN THE AFTERNOON AND INCIDENT BROKE OUT. I WANT TO WARN YOU THIS VIDEO, MAYBE TWO GRAPHIC FOR SOME SO WE SPOKE TO GREENVILLE POLICE ABOUT THIS VIDEO THAT YOU’RE WATCHING NOW SHOWING OFFICERS RESPONDING TO A CROWD OF PROTESTERS. POLICE TOLD US THEY HAD A SIDE FOR PRO-CHOICE DEMONSTRATORS AND PRO-LIFE DEMONSTRATORS TO ENSURE THE RALLY REMAINED. PEACEFUL AGAIN. LOOK AT THE VIDEO HERE. THEY SAY SOME PEOPLE STARTED ANTAGONIZING EACH OTHER. AND ONE PERSON TRIED TO GO OVER TO THE OTHER SIDE OF PROTESTERS. ARE TOLD OFFICERS TRIED TO STOP THAT PERSON AND THEY WOULDN’T COOPERATE SO THEY THEN TRIED TO ARREST THEM OFFICERS SAY FIVE OTHER PEOPLE TRIED TO STOP THE ARRESTS AND THEY WERE ARRESTED AS WELL. THEY SAY THEY THEN CLAIM THE RALLIES TO BE AN UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY AND PEOPLE WERE TOLD TO LEAVE. OFFICERS SAY CHARGES RANGE FROM PEDESTRIAN AND THE ROADWAY AND RESISTING ARRESTS. Arrests made at Roe v. Wade protest in South Carolina
Six people were arrested Saturday in downtown Greenville, South Carolina, during a picket in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, according to the Greenville Police Department.(Video above shows the incident)The protest was supposed to last from 12 until 1 p.m. with 100 people present at One City Plaza, but approximately 400-500 people were present during the picket which exceeded the scheduled end time, all according to Greenville police.Greenville police said on several occasions, police addressed people in the road and parties with opposing views from one side trying to get over to the other side. Police said one person was arrested after multiple warnings.Police said other protestors then interfered, which led to their arrests.Police said charges range from pedestrians in the roadway, interfering with police, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.The picket was deemed an unlawful assembly and officers dispersed both sides, police said.Police also said there was not any use of pepper spray or stun gun discharges, and an investigation is underway.
