Fireworks shows and a parade in Brooklyn are coming up for Independence Day

The Brooklyn Fourth of July Parade Committee is looking for trucks, tractors, kids on bicycles, pets, businesses and all fun things for Brooklyn's Fourth of July parade. Line up at 9:30 a.m. on Irwin Street; parade starts at 10 a.m. July 4. Registration is encouraged. For more information, contact Danice McEldowney at 517-414-5438.

McCourtie Park will be holding live music and fireworks at the park beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 2, featuring Nitro Jen at the pavilion. Fireworks will begin at dusk.

Other firework shows in and around the Irish Hills area are: on Saturday, July 2, Sand Lake and Wamplers Lake will hold their fireworks shows. On Sunday, July 3, Devils Lake and Manchester will have their shows. Loch Erin will have theirs on July 4, and Clark Lake will have a show on July 9.

The Manitou Beach Farmers Market will be open from 8:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday through September. Enjoy fresh produce, flowers, homemade baked/canned goods and handmade crafts. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, email stevelark@printedonalark.com.

Cambridge Historic State Park will have live music on from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 30,  featuring the Manchester Brass Band. For more information, visit Michigan.gov/walkertavern.

MST Dance Center is holding Young Choreographers Camp (a two-week camp) June 27-30 and July 11-14. Sessions run from 6 to 8 p.m. It is for ages 10 and up. Register at mstdancecenter.com.

Join Comfort Keepers for their Day of Joy celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at 125 Irwin St. in Brooklyn. The National Day of Joy was created to ensure everyone has at least one day devoted to experiencing and sharing joy. Join them for Finger Lickin’ Fire Pit Chicken, live entertainment, games, prizes and the Lenawee Humane Society. Contact them at 517-481-4467 with any questions.

The Irish Hills Eagles have the following specials coming up: On Wednesday, June 29, they are offering $1 Coney Dogs for members only, beginning at 11 a.m. On Friday, July 1, they will have smoked pork chop dinners from 5 to 7 p.m, public welcome. They are also holding an All You Can Eat Breakfast on Sundays from 8 a.m. to noon. Adults are $7, and children under 10 are only $3; public is welcome. On July 5 they will have bacon cheeseburger with fries for $7 for members only. The Eagles is at 9500 Wamplers Lake Road in Brooklyn.

Savanna Rose Studio will be holding classes this summer called Super-Star Summer Dance Blast for 4 days, July 11-14, for children ages 2.5 and up. Register online at savannarosedancestudio.com for creative dance, ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, competition and more.
