The Chicago Wolves wrapped up their fifth league championship with a 4-0 victory over the Springfield Thunderbirds Saturday night in Game 5 of the Calder Cup Finals.

The Calder Cup had been held by the Charlotte Checkers, The Carolina Hurricanes former AHL affiliate, who won their first championship in 2019 against the Chicago Wolves.

It was not awarded in 2020 and 2021 as the AHL did not hold a playoff due to the COVID pandemic, in that time the Canes affiliate shifted to the Chicago Wolves and Saturday they looked great as an organization.

Josh Leivo put the cherry on top of the win with his 15th goal of the playoffs.

He is your MVP and Chicago wins the Calder Cup for just the third time in franchise history, but that's back to back for the Canes organization.
