Abortion protests continue throughout the country after Supreme Court overturned Roe V Wade on Friday.
Kearney Indivisible organized a protest in Kearney on Saturday afternoon.
“I think is super important specially in Kearney to show that in these small communities that are not Lincoln or Omaha, that there is still people who feel this way," said pro-choice advocate Lindsey Cody.
Many people also gathered near the Supreme Court’s building on Saturday chanting abortion rights.
There are a total of 13 states with trigger laws. When it comes to Nebraska, a special session yet to be scheduled could change the current law, making then abortion Illegal in the state.
“I feel super anxious for the state I live in, I just hope that people can think about each individual person’s situation," Cody said.
Some local organizations and individuals are coming together in Kearney, and also Grand Island to keep the protests going throughout the upcoming weeks.
A non-profit organization (OUTwest) supports the LGBTQA+ community in Western Nebraska. A member said they will be protesting everyday next week starting at 5:00 p.m.
Kearney Indivisible members said they plan to protest again on Sunday at noon.
