JOHNSON CITY, Tenn--A Jonesborough man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a police officer on Friday.
According to the Johnson City police department, at 1:22 p.m., officers responded to 1503 E Unaka Ave. in reference to an unknown disturbance.
After arriving on scene, officers located Gary Williams, and said he was uncooperative with police, and tried to walk into the street. As officers tried to get him out of the street, he then assaulted an officer before brandishing a knife.
Police also believe he was under the influence of an unknown substance.
Williams was transported to the Washington County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond. Arraignment is set for 1:30 p.m. on 06/29/2022 in Washington County Sessions Court.
He was charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
