Family seeks help finding U-Haul with 'irreplaceable' items stolen from Olathe hotel parking lot

A woman and her son were moving from Illinois to Kansas when they say their moving truck and trailer were stolen.

A family is hoping the community can help them track down a stolen U-Haul they say is full of irreplaceable family memories. Kathleen Scott says she and her son, who goes to the University of Kansas, were in the process of moving from Illinois to Kansas when their U-Haul was stolen from the parking lot of the Candlewood Hotel parking lot in Olathe Friday afternoon. Scott says someone took the moving truck and trailer, which are filled with sentimental items, including photos of her late husband. “We are heartbroken over the loss of irreplaceable items, like photo albums filled with pictures of my children with their father.” Kathleen shared in a release. “My husband died when they were very young. Those photos were all they had.” Police are working to get surveillance video of the incident.If you know anything that could help, contact the Olathe Police Department at 913-971-7500.
