UPDATE: Man killed in San Juan County crash

UPDATE: MONDAY, 6/27/22, 1:12 P.M.

SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – More information has been released on a serious crash out of San Juan County on Saturday.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, a car and a truck were traveling in opposite directions on SR-162 in the Montezuma Creek area when the crash occurred around 4:26 p.m.

One of the vehicles crossed the center line of the highway, causing a head-on collision.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital while the driver of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver’s identity has not yet been released.

Both directions of the highway were shut down for an extended period of time as crews investigated the crash.

SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) – Both directions of State Route 162 near mile marker 8 in San Juan County have been closed off.

At this time, officers with the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) are investigating a fatal crash.

UHP notes that the roadway will be blocked off for several hours.
