MSP: Body found in Crystal Lake water rescue

CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a man’s body was found after an hours-long water rescue at Crystal Lake, east of Stanton, on Saturday.

Around 7 p.m., a 22-year-old man from Saginaw fell off a boat, the Montcalm County Sheriff’s Office told News 8 on Sunday. The boat was around 100 yards from shore.

Michigan State Police and Montcalm County Deputies closed the beach and cleared boats from the water. Officers wrapped yellow caution tape around trees and street signs surrounding the beach.

The beach remained closed as a dive team searched for the man.

They found his body around 9 p.m., the sheriff’s office said.

Police are not releasing his name.
