Huron earns split on road Thursday

SIOUX FALLS – Huron’s Post 7 Legion team hit the road to Sioux Falls and battled the Post 15 West team, coming away with a split Thursday night, losing the first game 7-6 before taking the nightcap by the score of 11-5.
In the first game, the Tigers struck first, scoring three runs in the top of the third inning, and Huron held a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning when the home team plated four runs to take the lead.
Huron would tie the score at 6-6 in the top of the seventh, but West walked off with a victory after a triple and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
Mason Davis opened the game on the hill for Post 7, going five innings, allowing four runs and striking out seven. Dawsyn Rogers and Max Kranzler each pitched 2/3 inning of relief to finish the game.
Huron knocked out nine hits during the game, including a pair of hits from Rogers, Davis, and Bubba Peterson. All three also had a stolen base, as did Tyson Lien.
Max Kranzler belted a triple and Kolby Hofer slugged a double in the loss.
The Huron bats came out early in the second game, building and 11-0 lead before the home team scored its first run of the game.
Kranzler pitched a complete game for Post 7, going seven innings, allowing five runs, and striking out five.
Huron clubbed out 13 hits, with five batters getting multiple hits in the game. Kranzler had a home run and a single. Peyton Grace had a triple and a single. Johnny Hernandez ripped a double and a single.
Davis totaled two singles and stole a base while Rogers also had a pair of singles.
Huron moves to 6-11. Post 7 travels back to Sioux Falls Tuesday to play Post 15 for a twinbill at 5 p.m.
