Carteret girl organizes second Beachside Pride walk, protestors speak on Roe V. Wade

EMERALD ISLE, Carteret County —
An 11-year-old from Emerald Isle organized Beachside Pride. a walk to celebrate Pride Month.

Lilly Chigas led the way holding a pride flag.
The group walked down Emerald Drive, from the Growler to the Fish Hut Grill and back, with flags and signs in hand.

Chigas said she wants to create a safe and open space in her hometown and hopes this walk empowers people to be themselves.
"Just be you, because that's the most important thing that you can do and you just have to celebrate yourself. That's all you can do in life," Chigas said.
This was the second Beachside Pride and Chigas said she is already excited for next year.
