GREENVILLE — A Greenville family dedicated a park bench to a lost loved one Saturday morning as they honored his memory.

The bench sits at Greenville City Park, it reads “In Honor of Travis Foutz. Let the Power of Music Live on.”

Travis Foutz died in 2017 at the age of 36, his family music and his guitar always got Travis through the good and bad times of his life.

The nonprofit foundation donates musical instruments to children grades K-12 who are unable to afford them.

Travis’ brother Brian and his wife Genny created the Foutz Foundation after his passing as a way to honor his love of music and legacy.

“We want to be able to provide children with the same passion that he had for music aren’t able to obtain instruments,” Brian said.

They have awarded over $3,000 in instruments so far.

Travis’ mother Art Garland said she misses her son very much, but being able to keep his spirit alive through music is a positive.

“Losing a child’s never easy, sometimes it’s is what you do after and we’re turning a negative into a positive,” Garland said.
