The two men got in an argument that escalated into a physical fight at the I-78 truck stop in Union Township on Jan. 23, 2021, according to court documents obtained by the Courier News.

David Rodriguez, 46, pulled a gun on Ricardo Menezes De Castro, 43, and shot him twice.

He then called the police on himself and waited for them to arrive.

De Castro was taken to Hunterdon Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Rodriguez, who has been held at Warren County Jail since his arrest, was originally charged with murder, but had his sentence lessened to aggravated manslaughter in his plea deal.

He’s slated to be sentenced on Aug. 19.
