PRINCETON JCT. — The Allentown American Legion team survived another close call Saturday by defeating Trenton Posts 93/182, 10-9, at West Windsor-Plainsboro High South.

The Mercer County American Legion League leaders and defending state champs have not had as easy a go of it as some might think.

After scoring seven times in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Broad Street Park Post 313, 8-7, on Father’s Day, A’town scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning Wednesday to erase a 4-2 deficit against Princeton Post 218.

Manager Sahil Thakur’s squad then suffered its first loss of 2022 when second-place Hamilton Post 31 defeated it, 3-2, in eight innings Thursday.

Yesterday, Allentown had to hold off a four-run, seventh-inning rally by the Schroths to survive a game in which the MCALL front-runners committed six errors.

Led by two hits apiece from Pedro Santos and Jermaine Tillery, Trenton forged a 3-0 lead in the first inning, then rallied to knot the score, 5-5, in the fifth.

But A’town got a big day from Carl Barth, who was 4-for-4 with two doubles and three runs batted in.

Posts 93/182 came back in the top of the seventh against winning pitcher Devin Nitschmann (2-for-3) before Mike Doran moved over to the mound to record the final out for the save.
