Phil Pressey is getting into coaching. The former Mizzou point guard is returning to Columbia to be a part of Dennis Gates’ coaching staff.

Pressey made the announcement on his Twitter account.

According to a Mizzou release, Pressey will be a graduate assistant. As a player, Pressey was the first Tiger to earn first-team All-SEC recognition in 2013 after leading the league with 7 assists per game. Pressey was also an AP All-American honorable mention that year.

Pressey finished his Mizzou career as the program’s all-time leader in assists (580) and tied with Anthony Peeler for the career lead in steals (196).

Out of MU, Pressey signed with the Boston Celtics after the 2013 NBA Draft. Over 3 seasons in the league, he also spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns. Pressey continued to play professionally in Europe before retiring to return to his alma mater as a coach.
