Man driving stolen truck crashes into hair salon, causes gas leak

A truck crashed into a hair salon and caused a large gas leak, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the driver crashed into Nature’s Designs Hair Salon located at 257 N 20th Street in Springfield, hitting a gas main, which caused a large gas leak in the area Friday morning.

Deputies said the man driving the truck fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Investigators said the truck was stolen earlier from Battle Creek but has since been turned over to the Battle Creek Police Department.

Due to the gas leak, N 20th Street was closed while Semco Gas company worked to turn off the gas and secure the scene, according to deputies.

No one in the salon was injured, according to deputies.
