Pacific Grove beaches reopen days after great white shark attack
Beaches in Pacific Grove reopened Saturday days after a swimmer was bitten by a great white shark in the water off Lovers Point. Following the attack, beaches at Lovers Point and the Sea Palm turnout were closed in accordance with state parks protocol."While you may now enjoy the water, we would like to remind you to exercise caution and remember that you do so at your own risk," Pacific Grove police wrote on Facebook. "Our bay is home to a variety of marine life, including sharks, and there is always a chance they are present near shore."Three good Samaritans are credited with coming to the rescue of the victim who was identified as Steve Bruemmer.Bruemmer was taken to the trauma center at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas where he underwent two hours of surgery; he’s currently listed in good condition.His doctor said had it not been for his rescuers, Bruemmer might not have survived.
