Wanda Lee Martin James was born November 18, 1929 in Robertson, Texas to Hubert and Mamie Martin. She passed from this world on June 20, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas, which would have been her and her husband's 72nd wedding anniversary.

Funeral services for Wanda will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 10 am at Resthaven Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ruby Moultrie officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2022 at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Wanda married Thomas C. James, Jr. on June 20, 1950. She graduated from Texas Technological College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Education degree and taught school at Walter Posey Elementary in Lubbock, Littlefield Elementary and Anton Elementary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Anton, Texas.

Wanda was always involved in children's activities serving as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and was active in the PTA. She is also a former member of the South Plains Genealogical Society.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; her parents; and daughter-in-law, Harla James.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Taylor and husband, Jimmy of Point Blank, Texas; two sons, Alan James of Littlefield, Texas and Delwyn James and wife, Michelle of Southlake, Texas; her grand-children, Jason Taylor and wife, Winter of Dallas, Texas; Alana James of Anton, Texas; Brandi Nicholson and husband, Dustin of Houston, Texas and Makenzie James of Dallas, Texas; and her four great-grandchildren; Kutter Thorton, Ella Nicholson, Gracelyn Taylor and Thomas Nicholson.

The family suggest memorials be made to South Plains Food Bank, American Cancer Hope Lodge or a favorite charity.
