ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Rochester police identified the homicide victim who was shot and killed in the area of Dewey Avenue late Friday night.

Authorities say officers arrived at the downstairs apartment of 210 Dewey Avenue around 11:30 p.m. for the report of a man down with a pool of blood around him. reports of a person down.

Officials say officers arrived at the location, confirmed observation of the 911 caller, and forced entry into the apartment. There, they found 37-year-old Eddie Blanding of Rochester deceased from at least one gunshot wound to his torso.

According to police, Blanding is a city resident but did not live at the Dewey Avenue location. Authorities also said it does not appear anybody was actually residing there.

This is an active homicide investigation. Anyone with more info is asked to dial 911.
