Clinton County stays “low” in COVID count


LOCK HAVEN, PA – The most recent COVID “Community Level” data from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) continues to show an improving trend in Pennsylvania. The latest from the CDC shows no Pennsylvania counties in the “high” community level. Clinton, Centre and Lycoming counties continue to be in the low level along with 48 other counties, while 16 of the state’s 67 counties are in the “medium” community level. The only county in the medium level in the immediate area is neighboring Union County.

According to the PA Department of Health’s COVID 19-Dashboard, statewide, there were 1,841 new cases reported Tuesday of this week (the latest information available), which was down from a week ago when the daily case count was at 2,165. Clinton County reported seven new cases on June 21, bringing the countywide total to 9,564. Centre County reported 14 new cases, bringing their county total to 37,693, and Lycoming County reported 13 new cases, bringing their total to 30,092.

In the past week, there were no additional deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Clinton (continuing to report 129 deaths) and Centre counties (360 deaths). There were two new deaths attributed to the virus in the past week in Lycoming County, bringing their COVID-related deaths to 536.
