Westchester Elected Democrats Support Levenberg for Assembly

Dana Levenberg with former Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey

The campaign of Assembly candidate Dana Levenberg submitted dozens of letters to the editor from current and former elected officials in Westchester supporting her candidacy to replace Sandy Galef in the 95th Assembly District, which includes Ossining, Cortlandt Manor, Peekskill and parts of Putnam County.
Endorsements for Levenberg included:

Former Peekskill Mayor Andre Rainey, who wrote, ”In order to fill your (Galef’s) shoes, we want somebody who’s going to have that same energy, that same respect, that same commitment to the people, and of course that same drive to make positive change…. For that reason, I’m giving my unwavering support and endorsement to Dana Levenberg to take this 95th Assembly seat.”

Westchester County Board of Legislators Chair Catherine Borgia, who wrote, “Dana will be a wealth of experience from her time serving our community on the state and local levels, and will be a strong, progressive, pragmatic representative at a time when we need that the most.”

Peekskill Mayor Vivian McKenzie-“Of all the candidates in this race, Dana has the most substantial history of accomplishments.”

Assemblymember Amy Paulin, “I want Dana as my colleague in the Capitol so that we can continue to advance the shared interests of our Westchester delegaton.”

Assemblymember Chris Burdick, “I have had the opportunity to see first-hand her keen intelligence and her rare ability to identify and unpack thorny issues. Most importantly, Dana serves the community with compassion and a genuine, heartfelt desire to help everyone.”

Assemblymember Sandy Galef, “I know and respect all of the candidates running for this seat. But I also know no one else will work as hard or as effectively for the 95th Assembly District as Dana. I know this because I’ve seen her do it. She knows this district and the Assembly, and she will be able to hit the ground running on day one.”

Levenberg is running in a democratic primary currently undeway with early voting. Former Peekskill City Councilwoman Vanessa Agudelo and County Legislator Colin Smith are her two opponents. The primary is on June 28.

All three campaigns are confident of victory, with the Smith campaign pointing to a number of union endorsements, and the Agudelo campaign highlighting their campaign on the ground, and the support from the Working Families Pary, and from Cynthia Nixon and AOC.
