Man arrested in connection with Canon City murder

CANON CITY, Colo. (KRDO) -- A man from Canon City was arrested on a slew of charges following a stabbing in Canon City on Friday, according to the Canon City Police Department.

33-year-old Dustin Mitchell was arrested and charged with

  • First degree murder
  • First degree burglary
  • Menacing
  • Violation of protection order
  • Domestic violence
  • Third degree assault

On Friday, Canon City Police responded to the 900 block of Greenwood Avenue just north of Highway 50, for the report of stabbing. Once on scene, officers found a 21-year-old male who had been stabbed in the chest and died from his injuries.

CCPD Detectives worked with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the District Attorney’s Office of the 11th Judicial District to investigate the crime. Mitchell was arrested for the stabbing.

Mitchell is in jail without bond at the moment.
