The National Hurricane Center is keeping a close eye on a system possibly developing in the North West Gulf of Mexico off the Texas Coast that could bring very strong systems of showers and thunderstorms to the region.

According to Gulf Watch, systems could move across the warm Gulf waters and organize off the Texas Coast by the middle of next week.

The Center says the system won’t have a lot of time over water.  But instead will move under the heat ridge causing low wind shear.

Water temperature is projected to be near 90 degrees in the northern Gulf and storms can spin up quickly.

This will help enhance rain across parts of the Gulf Coast, but it is too soon to say exactly where as nothing has formed.

WWL-TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says the system could put a dent in temperatures as they near 100 degrees over the next day or so.
