Texas Forward Isaiah Manning Names Oklahoma State in Top 6

The 2023 recruiting cycle is in a busy period.

Oklahoma State has hosted a handful of prospects on official visits over the past month or so, and now a prospect has put OSU in his top group. Isaiah Manning, a 6-foot-7 forward out of the Lone Star State, included OSU in his top group with TCU, Kansas State, Harvard, Columbia and Xavier.

“Oklahoma State is at the top of my list because I feel like they have the best coaching staff in all of college basketball,” Manning told On3. “Mike Boynton does a really good job of having a family vibe over there and the guys are really connected. One of my old high school teammates is up there too, Quion Williams. So it would kind of add to that element, being over there in Stillwater, with a real team-first mindset from everybody involved.”

Manning plays his high school ball at Mansfield Legacy in the DFW area, and he plays with Southern Assault on Adidas’ 3SSB. Southern Assault has been a pipeline for Oklahoma State in recent years. The program housed Isaac Likekele back when it was named YGC36 (after OSU alum Marcus Smart), and recently 2022 signee Quion Williams came from the AAU program. Williams also spent time at Mansfield Legacy before moving back to Arkansas.

In the 3SSB this spring and summer, Manning has averaged 10 points, five rebounds and 1.9 assists a game while shooting 37% from 3.

Manning is a three-star prospect in the 2023 composite rankings, listed as the No. 189 player in the country. Oklahoma State offered back in August, and he took a visit to Stillwater shortly after. Among the schools in his Top 6, only TCU offered before Oklahoma State.

Since Parker Friedrichsen decommitted from Oklahoma State in May, the Cowboys don’t have a commitment in their 2023 class (but only three programs do). In recent weeks, the Cowboys have hosted a good amount of players in Gallagher-Iba Arena, including Brandon Garrison, Trent Pierce, Jamyron Keller and Jaland Lowe.
