MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Miss West Virginia Pageant is Saturday night in Martinsburg.
Miss West Virginia and Miss West Virginia Outstanding Teen will be both be crowned.
Reigning Miss West Virginia Jaelyn Wratchford said it’s gone fast.
“You know when you win you only get 365 days but you don’t know how fast that’s going to go,” Wratchford said during an appearance on Panhandle Live.
Wratchford is a student at Shepherd University pursuing degrees in Business Administration and Psychology. She dedicated her year of service to Youth Empowerment.
“Every child should have a robust and meaningful support system as they grow,” according to her bio. Her message: an investment in young people is investment in West Virginia.
Miss West Virginia’s Outstanding Teen Olivia Travis is a Martinsburg High Student entering her senior year. She said one of the highlights of their year of service was when she and Jaelyn traveled to schools all across the state.
“We’ve been able to visit so many classrooms across the state and that was one of our goals this year to travel to the southern part of the state where titleholders haven’t been to. We were able to do a lot of that this year,” Travis said.
The Miss West Virginia Pageant will be held at Airborne Church’s event center at 172 Creative Way in Martinsburg Saturday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.
