Oakland Home Destroyed In Fire; People & Pets Safe

Oakland, Tenn.–A home at 225 Whitehead Loop was destroyed by an early morning fire, but all the residents–including the dogs and cats–were able to get out of the house. One resident was transported to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation.

The Oakland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the fire at 1:30 a.m. today.

Chief James Martin said, “Upon arrival, we found the home fully involved. The home was completely destroyed. Fortunately, everyone was able to get out of the house, including the dog and cats.”

The father of the household was transported to the hospital with possible smoke inhalation.

Automatic mutual aid arrived from the Paris Fire Department, with the Mansfield Fire Department assisting as well.

Oakland had three trucks and four firefighters, Paris had two trucks and four firefighters, Mansfield had one truck with three firefighters at the scene.
