WEST CHESTER — A Montgomery County woman was sentenced to 6 to12 months in Chester County Prison, plus two years of probation for stealing drugs in early 2020 from Recovery Centers of America in Devon where she worked as a nurse.

Common Pleas Court Judge Ann Marie Wheatcraft handed down the sentence to Molly Munro, 45, of Horsham. Munro pled guilty in March 2022 to the acquisition of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge, and reckless endangerment of another person.

On Feb. 5, 2020, Easttown Twp. Police were notified of an internal investigation into missing drugs that Recovery Centers of America was conducting. Police learned that videos showed the defendant swapping Subutex pills for Tylenol and Paxil, which were then given to Recovery Centers of America patients. Investigators discovered that the defendant replaced the Subutex over one to two weeks to ensure a correct pill count.

She was fired from Recovery Centers of America on Feb. 6.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan said, “Molly Munro’s only concern was for herself, not those she’d taken an oath to care for and protect. Her selfish and criminal actions endangered her patients’ lives and jeopardized their recoveries from substance abuse disorder. This breach of trust of Recovery Centers of America and their clients deserves punishment and justice.”

Easttown Twp. Police investigated. Assistant District Attorney Alyssa Amoroso was the assigned prosecutor.
