Investigation underway after deadly shooting on Charlotte Pike

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Metro police have opened a shooting investigation after a man was shot and killed on Charlotte Pike late Friday night.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Charlotte Pike and 40th Avenue North at around 10:40 p.m. and found 24-year-old Miles Slay, who had been shot.

Police say a witness rendered aid to Slay until an ambulance arrived; Slay died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to police, multiple shots were fired at Slay from the passenger side of the tan or gray SUV pictured below. The SUV is believed to be either a GMC Yukon Denali or Chevrolet Tahoe. The SUV sped away after the gunfire and traveled onto 39th Avenue North. Slay is also in the picture below, just before the shots were fired.

Homicide detectives are pursuing active leads in the shooting and anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.

No other information was immediately released. 

A GoFundMe has also been set up to help Slay’s family with funeral expenses.
